You get in touch with us with an idea for an act or with a already developed act that you would like to adapt to the theme of the show. The artistic development process will be individually guided by the artistic directors, both in advance and on site at Rhizovention. The show is complemented by the Rhizovention ensemble, which develops transitions and collective scenes in the show creation workshops.
Participation in the process is included in the festival ticket. You can buy a ticket separately from the Open Call.
Send us a PDF (max. 2 A4 pages) with links to videos/music, pictures and a short description of you and your act by April 30th, 2024 to rhizovention@rhizomatic.at
If you have any questions, please contact us with the subject “Show Creation”: rhizovention@rhizomatic.at
Sasha (Aleksandra Parkhomchuk) (she/her, 27) is graduating from the Rogelio Rivel circus school in Barcelona in June, where she specialized in Cyr Wheel, handstands and partner acrobatics.
Mirjam Heypke (she/her, 25) completed her bachelor's degree in "Contemporary Circus and Physical Theater" at the Circomedia circus school in Bristol in 2022. There she specialized in straps, acrodance, cloud swing and physical theater.
Both artists have gained diverse experiences in their respective circus schools and will share their creation and performance tools. Together they accompany the creation processes of the individual acts and lead the “Creation Workshops” at the festival..
This year the theme “CouRAGE” will accompany us throughout the festival.
We will experience courage on numerous levels during the rhizovention. In circus we regularly encounter personal and collective challenges and fears. We want to encourage each other to face these. Courage to purely experience and feel, to try out and fail, to change and grow. Courage to tell stories. Courage to listen. Courage to create and express yourself on stage.
Rage is sometimes a too silent companion. Let's create spaces at Rhizovention where the anger that lives within us has space and finds an outlet through artistic expression. Rage is not a must - it should not be forced, but rather absorbed collectively. To make this possible, we must be courageous individually but also as a collective.
Courage and rage can help and strengthen each other.
Courage to rage. Courageously free anger from the silence and rigidity, get it moving and give it expression.
Rage to courage. Let the rage make you courageous, take action and create positive change.
What makes you angry?
How to you express anger or rage?
When was the last time you were brave?
What occurs when you are angry?
Are you more courageous when you are angry?
